Get Started

Meet your team

ABA works best when your child is supported by a team of adults who create a cohesive wraparound experience.

BCBA

Your BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is the lead clinician. They design your child’s therapy plan, keep an eye on progress, and make adjustments as your child grows and changes.

RBT

Your RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) works directly with your child during sessions. They bring the plan to life through hands-on, one-to-one support, using approaches that match your child’s skills, interests, and needs.

You!

You’re a key part of the team! We work closely with parents and caregivers, sharing guidance and practical strategies so progress doesn’t stop when a session ends.

Yes, we can work with your child

Older children? Complex needs? Orca’s team of highly skilled and experienced specialists is equipped to work with a broad range of profiles, including:

  • Older children and adolescents
  • Severe behavior challenges
  • Trauma histories and co-occurring mental health needs
  • Families who have tried ABA before without success

At the same time, we are honest. We won’t promise outcomes we can’t guarantee. We assess carefully, communicate clearly, and prioritize safety and clinical integrity over volume.

“Meaningful progress isn’t about checking boxes or chasing data points that look good on paper. We focus on skills that improve daily life by reducing frustration, increasing safety, and making daily life easier for the whole family.”

PROCESS

Here’s how it works

01

Initial Intake

We gather your background information and required documentation to begin services. This helps us understand your child’s history and current needs.

02

Confirm Eligibility & Verify Benefits

We review diagnosis, referral requirements, and insurance criteria to make sure services can move forward appropriately. We explain your insurance coverage, authorization requirements, and any expected responsibilities so you know exactly what to expect. We submit all required documentation and formally request insurance approval for services.

03

Initial Assessment & Treatment Planning

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts a comprehensive assessment and develops an individualized treatment plan tailored to your child.

04

Treatment Begins

ABA sessions begin with ongoing clinical oversight to ensure quality, consistency, and meaningful progress.

Do we need an autism diagnosis to start?

Most insurance plans require a medical diagnosis of autism to authorize ABA services. If you’re unsure where you stand in that process, we can help you understand what documentation is needed and what next steps make sense.

Will my child have the same therapist each session?

We aim for consistency, but your child won’t usually have just one therapist. Instead, a small, coordinated RBT team works together under BCBA supervision. Having more than one therapist helps your child practice skills with different people and makes sure care doesn’t pause if someone is out. Everyone follows the same clinical plan, so support stays steady and aligned.

What is my role as a parent or caregiver?

You’re an important part of the process. If sessions happen at home or in the community, an adult does need to be present. The BCBA will explain how sessions are structured and when your involvement is most helpful. During active therapy time, it’s usually best to let the RBT run the session so we can collect accurate data and clearly measure progress — and we’ll always make space to talk things through after.

How long does it take to see progress?

Every child with Autism is different. Some families notice small shifts within the first month when sessions are consistent. Longer-term progress depends on many factors. Our job is to keep a close eye on the data and adjust the plan so growth keeps moving forward.

Do you accept insurance?

Orca is in-network with Utah Medicaid and several commercial insurance providers. If we are not in-network with your plan, we may be able to request a single case agreement. We verify benefits and explain coverage before treatment begins so there are no surprises.

What if ABA hasn’t worked for our family in the past?

There are many reasons treatment might not have gone as hoped — intensity, fit, environment, or something else. We take the time to understand what didn’t work, remove barriers, and build a plan that truly fits your child. Previous experience with ABA doesn’t mean progress isn’t possible.

You don't have to figure this out alone

We’re here for you. Reach out to explore your options and see how Orca can help your child.
